Successful Ballistic Missile Intercept with new SM-3 Block 1B
Successful Ballistic Missile Intercept with new SM-3 Block 1B
5/10/2012 - Second-Generation Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System Completes Successful Intercept Flight Test The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and US Navy sailors aboard the USS LAKE ERIE (CG 70) successfully conducted a flight test of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) system, resulting in the first intercept of a short-range ballistic missile target over the Pacific Ocean by the Navy's newest Missile Defense interceptor, the Standard Missile -- 3 (SM-3) Block 1B. At 8:18 pm Hawaiian Standard Time (2:18 am EDT May 10) the target missile was launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, located on Kauai, Hawaii. The target flew on a northwesterly trajectory towards a broad ocean area of the Pacific Ocean. Following target launch, the USS LAKE ERIE detected and tracked the missile with its onboard AN/SPY-1 radar. The ship, equipped with the second-generation Aegis BMD 4.0.1 weapon system, developed a fire control solution and launched the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IB interceptor. The USS LAKE ERIE continued to track the target and sent trajectory information to the SM-3 Block IB interceptor in-flight. The SM-3 maneuvered to a point in space, as designated by the fire control solution, and released its kinetic warhead. The kinetic warhead acquired the target, diverted into its path, and, using only the force of a direct impact, engaged and destroyed the threat in a hit-to-kill intercept. Today's event, designated Flight Test Standard Missile-16 (FTM-16 ...

Saab - RBS 70 Man-Portable Air-Defence Missile System [480p]
Saab - RBS 70 Man-Portable Air-Defence Missile System [480p]
Air defence does not necessarily mean large semi-stationary installations. The RBS 70 man-portable air-defence missile system (MANPADS) has acquired a first-class reputation based on its outstanding performance, unique unjammable laser-guided missile, high reliability and availability. The 4th generation of RBS 70 is truly the best choice of MANPADS for present and future conflicts. The RBS 70 is combat-proven and has the capability to combat targets from ground level up to 5000m. Due to the smart laser proximity fuze and the high-tech warhead, the system can defeat armoured targets on the ground as well as small air targets, eg UAVs and cruise missiles. The system has been designed to be easy to use requires minimum personnel and logistic support, enabling it to be deployed and redeployed quickly and to have minimised reaction time. The unjammable laser-guided RBS 70 system is designed to counter the modern threat, which besides bombers and fighter-bombers, also includes stand-off weapons, UAVs and other small air targets as well as ground targets. The RBS 70 system combines modern advanced technology with the Saab's more than 50 years of experience in air-defence systems, missiles and radars, into a powerful and cost-effective air-defence system. US surrounding Russia with missile defense system?
US surrounding Russia with missile defense system?
The US missile defense shield based in Eastern Europe has been under heavy criticism from Russia. The shield - which is being put in place to protect NATO countries - has Russian officials questioning the United State's intentions. Russia believes the US defense system is aimed at their missiles and said the US must address their concerns or they will be forced to launch a preemptive strike to put an end to the defense shield. Raytheon - Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) & SeaRAM Anti-Ship Missile Defense System [480p]
The Phalanx CIWS advanced radar-controlled gun system provides superior defense against close-in air and surface threats. The Phalanx Close-In Weapon System is a rapid-fire, computer-controlled, radar-guided gun system designed to defeat anti-ship missiles and other close-in air and surface threats. A self-contained package, Phalanx automatically carries out functions usually performed by multiple systems -- including search, detection, threat evaluation, tracking, engagement, and kill assessment. Phalanx Block 1B, the latest upgrade, with its surface mode configuration, augments the proven anti-air warfare capability by adding a forward looking infrared sensor and optimized gun barrels to the Block 1A configuration. It allows Phalanx to be used against littoral warfare threats such as helicopters and high-speed surface threats. Block 1B also adds new control stations with situational awareness that allows operators to visually track and identify targets before engagement. Phalanx is installed on practically all US combatant ships and on those of 22 allied nations. The SeaRAM Anti-Ship Missile Defense System provides the highest level of ship self-defense with extended keep-out range capability. The SeaRAM Anti-Ship Missile Defense System is a spiral development of key attributes of the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System and the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Guided Weapon System. Krasnopol - Russian guidеd weapon system (УАС Краснополь).mp4
This weapon system is intended for first-shot defeat (without fire adjustment) of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery pieces, both moving (at a speed of up to 36 km/h) and stationary, deployed in the open or in pits, as well as dugouts, bridges, ferries, and surface targets (combatant, landing and transport ships) at a range of 3 to 25 km. The Krasnopol system does not require re-equipment of fire positions or command-observation posts. It can do without high-accuracy topographic, geodetic or meteorological data. Firing the Krasnopol guided artillery projectile is performed both from towed pieces and self-propelled artillery pieces. For being carried in a standard ammunition stowage of self-propelled artillery pieces the projectile is made up of two sections mated before firing by a quick-connect joint. The Krasnopol GAP does not require any serviceability checks or scheduled maintenance during 10 years' storage in depots. The Krasnopol system can be equipped with both Russian (1D20, 1D22 and ЛЦД-3М1) and foreign-made laser designator/range finders (for example, French-made DHY309). Russian Krivak IV (Project 11356) guided-missile frigate (P1/2)
The Project 11356 is a guided-missile frigate designed to counter surface ships, submarines and airborne targets operating alone or embedded into convoys. Due to the use of stealth technologies and a special hull design, the resulting frigate features reduced radar cross section (RCS) as well as electromagnetic, acoustic and infrared signatures. Equipped with state-of-the-art Russian-made sensors and weapon systems, the Project 11356 frigate is a modern ship with balanced capabilities capable of countering modern Western naval assets. The ship's propulsion system comprises a two-shaft gas-turbine plant each developing 28000-hp of power which allows for a top speed of 30-kt and an economic speed of 14 knots. The ship's maximum range at economic speed is approx. 5000 nautical miles. The electric power is provided by four 800Kw WCM800/5-type diesel generators. The cornerstone of the advanced sensors provided to the Project 11356 frigate is the Fregat M2EM air/surface surveillance radar. A flight deck and hangar allow operation of one Ka-28 or Ka-31 helicopter. The Project 11356 frigate is equipped with the Shtil-1 medium range air defense system with 24 9M38 missiles and one 3S-14E eight-tube under-deck launcher with eight 3M-54TE/Club-N supersonic anti-ship missiles. HMS Diamond Fires Sea Viper Missile for the First Time
With a flash of orange and an ear-splitting bang HMS Diamond has proved her fighting mettle by testing her missile system off the Outer Hebrides. The third of the Royal Navy's cutting edge Type-45 destroyers blasted her missile out of the silo at three times the speed of sound, obliterating the jet drone target out of the sky. The successful firing of the Sea Viper system means that HMS Diamond is now ready to take her place as a fully operational warship, capable of deploying anywhere across the world.
